In the 80’s I’d buy a map, grab the Yellow Pages and some coloured sticky circles. I’d work through the YP and add different coloured dots to the map for existing & potential customers.
I’d then take the shortest route between each and knock on the doors, say hello and see where we went from there 😉
Google is brilliant because I can move down to street level and make sure I knock on every business in an area, say hello and see if they need something I’ve got in my toolkit. I can add more details to the actual map so any of my clients, looking to find out where I’ve been and where I’m going next, can simply view the map to get the bigger picture.
There is really no substitute for face to face engagement. And the only way to find out who is who and what’s what in a local area is to hit the pavement and go see in real time. People, in my experience, are always happy to help and will point you in the right direction should they like the cut of your jib.
I’m initially covering an area of approx 10 miles around Windsor, split into Windsor plus 9 areas. I’ll be in the Windsor area every Monday, spend a day in each of the 9 areas and 3 days in London over the course of a month, Friday will be strategy / tidy day.
Mornings will be on the ground, networking lunch & afternoons switch to social media online.
I will focus my energy on presenting the messages of my sponsors in a joined up, professional, consultative sales manner. This is not about hard sell, it’s about long term relationships.
If you have something that you feel would compliment my portfolio, please make contact and we can discuss terms.
