It’s not surprising that many business managers hide away from the plethora of titles and brands aligned to business risk management.
I last counted over twenty contributing subjects, sourced from my colleagues in the Insurance, IT, Risk Management and Security professions. Everyone seems to be giving good advice from their perspectives and such a range of options leads to confusion.
It’s that time of year when the thermometer drops, the nights draw in and we anticipate the risk of colds and flu. Many of us have already arranged our flu injections and installed a fresh bottle of cough medicine in the cupboard. We look after ourselves but often neglect our business’ health.
When you really think about it:
• Anticipating our risk of illness ahead of time, about it is likened to good risk management as knowing what may come and deciding what best to do in advance is just common sense;
• Having the flu inoculation won’t resist everything but will increase our resilience. We do whatever we can to avoid any pain and disruption;
• The cough medicine is our contingency measure to accelerate recovery and continuity of our daily activities.
Risk management, business resilience measures and business continuity implementation are the main constituents of a healthy organisation, which must be reviewed and improved at least annually. All other subjects contribute to these three titles.
There, that was easy and it didn’t hurt a bit. Do come back if there are any problems!
It’s just good business sense…
Give me a call, or complete the form below, I’ll ask a couple of questions and offer some thoughts, we can then decide the next steps.
