The Trustees of The Prince Philip Trust Fund for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, in association with the Rotary Club of Windsor and Eton, are planning a fundraising event to be held at Ascot Racecourse on Wednesday, 30th April, 2014, the first Flat Race Meeting of the 2014 Season.
The event will comprise a Champagne Reception, Three-Course Lunch, Racing and Afternoon Tea with Free Car Parking, Free Entrance and Complimentary Racecard. There will be a Tipster on hand to assist those who may need guidance on the form of the horses and jockeys on the day.
The Prince Philip Trust Fund exists to improve conditions of life for residents of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead by assisting individuals and voluntary organizations to acquire and provide welfare support, opportunities for young people in education (particularly in the field of voluntary Service), an appreciation of the fine arts, literature and science and excellence in sports participation and other leisure time pursuits. The Trust is, therefore, a benevolent body established, exclusively, in the interests of the social welfare of the local community.
The Fund held its inaugural meeting in 1977 and, since then, has distributed grants and guarantees to a value in the region of £1.3M., to over 500 local organizations and individuals.
The Secretary to the Trust, Kevin McGarry, commented that “this is a most creditable and satisfying record made possible only by periodic fundraising initiatives usually in conjunction with our partners, The Rotary Club of Windsor & Eton – every penny of the money distributed must first be raised and what better way raise funds than by offering people the opportunity to enjoy themselves in the process”.
