Happy Darwin Day… did he say this?

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” Charles Darwin maybe!

If only Charles Darwin was here to respond then would he shrug his shoulders and say, “Sounds about right” or would he get lost in the use of the English language and say he didn’t mean that, he meant this? Does it really matter?

I shot the above in Windsor Great Park in the summer of 2012… are the oak trees adapting or just dying slowly?

Thank you.

  1. No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new.
