Last night I was honoured to host our Rotary Zone Final and enjoy presentations by 8 teams from local schools…
SENIOR WINNERS & JUDGES: Ben Newton of Windsor Vehicle Leasing, Sally Eton from Langley Hall Primary Academy Trust, Senior winning speaker from LVS & Joe Sparks, Everyday Arts and Green Room project.
Senior teams (6th form) took to the floor from LVS, Harefield Academy, Langley Grammar & Brigidine… LVS won through on the day with a Lamda style presentation “15 Minutes” which offered excellent structure, while the passionate “The Plight of Sweatshop Workers” by a team from Langley Grammar resonated in the hearts of many.
INTERMEDIATE WINNERS & JUDGES: Matt Davis, MDMA Limited, St Helen’s School team, Neil Laver from Microsoft and Mary Fraser of Poppy Fields.
Intermediate teams from hosts St Edward’s, St Helen’s, St Bernard’s & Charters showed “Amazing talent!” highlighted by the chair of the judges, Neil Laver, who shared how his company Microsoft, spends millions on teaching its people how to give great presentations like those he & fellow judges had heard during the evening.
John Greening, District Governor 1090, shares how the lucky winners would progress in the competition…
This is my fourth year managing Youth Speaks for my Windsor & Eton Rotary Club and my 2nd in hosting the Zone Final… out of the mouth of babes… it’s very inspiring to listen to our youth share their thoughts & passions for a whole range of topics… can’t wait for next year!
Thank you.
