I pinged our two contacts over in the Philippines each an email last night asking on how our boats were coming on…
Jesse came back and said he’d made our ONE BOAT donation into TWO BOATS and they would be handing them over with another 48 at the weekend!
Waiting on the detail of how but if he was able to negotiate a better deal, add some extra money and make it TWO fantastic… that will mean, with the donation we made to Allan at another Rotary Club in the Philippines, we now have THREE boats… or it could be that Allan & Jesse have joined forces since we last emailed each other and it’s just 2… whichever it’s fantastic news that at least 2 boats are ready for use by the villagers.
I asked if we could have a green boat since green is the colour of hope! Can’t wait to see pictures of our actual boats…
They lost over 100,000 boats in the storms back in November and when I asked how best we could help them, they said, we need boats…
This became the ONE BOAT Project and my plan in 2014 is to go and encourage 10 of my local Rotary Clubs to donate £500 into the ONE BOAT project, present this to District who will double our efforts, which would then be compounded by Rotary on a Global level and make our donations the equivalent of FIFTY BOATS 😉
Bunch of admin needs sorting but my fellow Rotarian has said he’ll take care of that, so I can focus on knocking the doors of local Rotary Clubs and generating ONE BOAT from each…
Wish me luck and if you know of a Rotary Clubs in District 1090 that would like to join in, get them to say hello to me…
Thank you.
