Last Sunday evening, Sir Ian & Lady Sally MacFadyen were special guests at a dinner hosted by Windsor & Eton Rotary Club in the Pavilion at Sir Christopher Wren Hotel.
“Oh what a night!” The champagne flowed before dinner, The Queen’s Six sang grace & entertained us between courses singing increasingly lively numbers and Sir Ian MacFadyen shared with us that afternoon he had been duly knighted by the Queen!
Sir Ian has been incredibly generous with his time for Windsor & Eton Rotary Club. His door has always been open to me. When a friend, whose son had been wounded in Afghanistan was organising a cake sale in Windsor, Sir Ian kindly agreed to host a winning family, of a treasure hunt, in the Round Tower for afternoon tea… what a memory for the family 😉
When I took on our Rotary Youth Speaks event for the club, he was always ready, willing and able to Chair one of the judging panels… and what an excellent judge he made!
He was telling me & Ali how this was his 4th retirement and now he’s going to enjoy getting his home in Gloucester in good shape after only spending a few months there over the last 15 years since they bought it! It’ll seem like a very simple task after having to manage Windsor Castle and all that entails…
Thank you Sir Ian for all your support and enjoy whatever you choose to do next…
I had to hold back on this story because the Queen’s Six preferred their video to mine… can’t think why! And they produced this video for a wedding anniversary… so asked me to hold off until after the big day… enjoy the video, pictures & raise a glass over your Sunday dinner to Sir Ian & Lady Sally MacFadyen 😉
Thank you.
