Benjamin Ellis , Redcatco & SocialOptic

Benjamin Ellis has worked with companies including Cisco Systems, Microsoft, IBM, Motorola, and Juniper Networks in Silicon Valley. He is a social technologist and serial entrepreneur who has worked in the online world for almost 30 years. Despite spending more than two decades at the leading edge of technology Benjamin is still passionate about what technology can achieve, particularly at the intersections between people, communication, and software.

He is best known for his roles at Redcatco and SocialOptic. Redcatco was founded in 2007, focused on helping global businesses realise the potential of what we now know as Social Media. SocialOptic was founded in 2009 and offers a number of other Software as a Service solutions, that utilise big data to improve business efficiency.

Benjamin is also well known for his support for startups and growing UK digital businesses – predominantly through the Digital Mission with Chinwag and the UKTI.

Benjamin makes the occasional appearance on TV and Radio, talking about how technology is changing how businesses work, and also contributes to a number of blogs and print publications. Benjamin is also active in the academic domain as both a researcher and student.
