It was five years ago, this week when I was made redundant and instead of working for others, chose to run my own micro-business against all odds.
The business name needed to be relative to what I delivered and be alphabetically prominent. It also had to have a similar web domain and stay on Google page one. I plumbed for a .co.uk domain and acquired .com, .eu and .uk to protect its internet presence.
The business was first supported from own funds, avoiding loans. Business plans were to grow but not become too large and impersonal. At times I nearly gave up but pressed on. Networking, website content and dedication led to gaining small and global clients, meeting locally and internationally. My advice to anyone starting out is to stick with your dream and grow how you want. You will get there.
It is your business and your choices.
Good luck.
