Nicola Sanders is part of Eton Chriropractic Clinic and is a former 400 metre sprinter. She retired in 2014 after an illustrious career both on the flat and over hurdles.Nicola began as a very promising junior, among her numerous medals she won gold at the 2000 Junior Commonwealth’s.She then went on to the senior ranks and her first major medal came at the 2005 World Championships where she took bronze in the 4x400m along with Donna Fraser, Lee McConnell and Christine Ohuruogu.
2006 saw Nicola finish 4th over the hurdles at the Commonwealth Games, and she was part of the team that took gold in the 4 x 400m relay, but were later disqualified after a protest from the Australian team.
2007 was arguably Nicola’s strongest year. She won Gold at the European indoors with a British and Commonwealth record of 50.02 which still stands today and indeed was the 5th fastest time in history. The relay team also won a Bronze at the same meeting.
Later that year she went to the World Championships in Osaka. There, she managed to finish second in the 400m just behind fellow Brit Christine Ohuruogu. She ran a PB of 49.65 which makes her the 4th quickest Brit in history.Nicola retired from professional athletics in 2014 and now concentrates on being a Mum and working alongside her husband at their Chiropractic and remedial Clinic in Eton.
