Wokingham Council is developing its future plan on how it will support people with a learning disability and the families and friends who care for them. Wokingham has one of the highest prevalence rates in England for people with learning disabilities needing support and is second in the south east region. We spend over £19 million per year on learning disability services with a high per capita spend when compared with other English councils.Supporting people with learning disabilities is a key strategic priority for the council. Our new strategy will drive the recommissioning of local services and a procurement plan that will be taken forward over the next few years. This offers suppliers of good quality learning disability services new opportunities to develop and provide services in Wokingham. We want to engage suppliers of support and care services to people with learning disability in the development of the council’s strategy. In particular we want supplier views on what the council should consider with regard to developing a local market able to deliver the council’s commissioning intentions and ambition for its residents with a learning disability.
We invite suppliers to register an interest in attending a supplier event that will take place on Thursday 20 June 2019 between 2pm and 4pm at Wokingham Council’s offices. Suppliers can also provide their comments by completing an online survey that’s available at: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/wokinghamldstratsupply
