Education Packages for Young People with Severe Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties West Berkshire Tender Closes 16th December

West Berkshire Council invites bids from suitably qualified and experienced organisations to deliver full time education for a group of students in Year 9 and above who hold Education Health and Care Plans because of social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). The Service to be provided in premises provided by the Council.

The client group will include young people with severely challenging behaviours whose primary need is SEMH. It may also include young people with a diagnosis of Autism and also young people who may not have a specific diagnosis but who suffer from anxiety and may have become school refusers. Some young people in the client group may have mental health difficulties, substance misuse issues or may be known to the criminal justice system.

Young people referred to the project may have been excluded from school or may have become disengaged from school and have a poor attendance record.

Given the diverse and challenging nature of the client group, the emphasis needs to be on creating a highly personalised curriculum for each young person which re engages them in education, capitalises on their strengths and interests, identifies and addresses any learning difficulties and allows them to achieve accredited qualifications and progress to Further Education or employment.

The contract start date is 1st September 2020, for up to 5 years.
